Kumu Hula Kehaulani Kawai - Hula Kahiko

is the daughter of nā Kumu Hula Hokulani and Larry De Rego. 

Kumu Kehaulani is one of the Kumu Hula of Hālau Hula ‘O Hokulani and works on the foundational Hula traditions with all new dancers. Kumu Kehaulani loves to challenge her advance haumāna but also has a gentleness and patience with Keiki Haumāna. Kumu Kehaulani has received many Awards for Keiki Hula Competition, including First Place Kahiko, First Place Auana and First Place Overall at the Ia Oe E Ka Lā Hula Festival.

Dr. Manuwai Peters - ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i

A Kalamaʻula, Molokai homesteader since 1992, Manuwai’s professional background is in public education with a focus on indigenous educational issues and programs including the Hawaiian Language Immersion Program.  

He first started teaching online Hawaiian language classes in 2009 to students in New York City and Washington DC and has continued teaching adult learners since. In 2020, Manuwai launched Hawaiian language and Hawaiian song composition classes on Zoom for German speaking students with help from Piliaka Peter of Switzerland.  

His Hula ʻOni E language workshops in Vienna will provide an introduction to Hawaiian language learning designed for Hawaiian hula dancers and others who are interested in Hawaiian culture, history, and artforms.
