The workshops

On Friday, June 9th, and on Sunday, June 11th 2023, the judges  and the kumus of Hālau Hula ’O Hokulani from Hawai'i and will give workshops not only in Hula but also others with Hawaiian cultural background.

Session 1 Papa ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi- Hawaiian Language Basics

Participants in this workshop will have an introduction to Hawaiian language vocabulary, grammar, common phrases, and salutations. Recommended for people who have a passion for languages, Hawaiʻi, and Hawaiian culture & history.

Session 2- He Mea Hula Au- I am a Dancer.

Sunday, June 11, 2023, 2.30 - 4.30 pm

Participants will learn Hawaiian language phrases to introduce themselves, say who they dance hula with (hālau name), who their kumu hula is, and where they live/hula at. Recommended for: Mea Hula (people who dance hula).
